Day 0: GDC Next 2013

I have to admit that Megabus is one of the best deals around; I don’t have to drive, free wi-fi, electrical outlets and I can sleep. One word to the wise, it is always freezing cold on Megabus so bring layers and a blanket. The drivers always say they have no control over the air, when the bus goes on so does the air. And it is cold. I did see one clever thing today, a guy brought clear packing tape and put it over the vents so the air wasn’t blowing as hard on him.

I know flying would be quicker, but honestly Union Station tends to be closer to where I’m usually going. There are no security lines, liquid limits, etc. So if I can spare the time I’d rather take the bus, did I mention that it only cost me $10 to go from SF to LA? It’s kind of a no brainer, price-wise.  And I’ve never paid more than $38 one way.

I’m staying at a new place via Airbnb, I like it and it’s within walking distance to the LA Convention Center. This may become my go to place for conferences and conventions.

I’d really like to say that I’m going to just relax the rest of the evening; nope, I have to try to get closer to finishing a few gaming reviews, doing my homework for interviews and networking during the WIGI WAM meetup in a few hours.

Gamer Girl Talk: Single Player

I have never sought out friends on my various gaming platforms because I rarely play multi-player. I don’t know why? I just like playing games on my own and not having to plan ahead to play with others. Or find random people on the fly. I kind of get irritated when I’m playing a game that requires me to play with other people. Boo.

I will admit playing co-op or multi-player games with people are aren’t going to be jerks is a lot of fun. The reason I game is to have fun, not to prove how good I am at games. Or how many hours of my life that I can pour into a game. That being said, good on you if being an elite gamer is your thing. I know there are tons of people that compete in gaming and I am not one of them so don’t be a douche to me because I just want to have fun.  I don’t appreciate the negativity of those that choose this way to game. So ultimately, I generally choose to game alone. Can’t we all just get along? Or at least be respectful of another person? Stop hiding behind anonymity.

Scary-Exciting Stuff

So things have been happening a little faster than I can keep up with sometimes…

Guess it’s time to put my money where my mouth is? I’m now a content writer for The Koalition and my first official press outing is GDC Next. I hope my previous rant about how not to represent youself to the press is now making sense. So, the number of games I’m playing has increased significantly. I’m not reviewing AC4 but you’ll be hearing about my first impressions per usual later this week.

What Am I Playing?

I know this isn’t a “new” game but it’s new to the PC  and Steam. It was previously released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2010. I don’t think this new “premium” edition changed anything except adding new DLC, which is just crap. Why not include the new content with the re-release of the game?
